The Clinical Triad: Muscle, Skin, and Adipose Tissue

Abdominoplasty at NodensCare is a functional-aesthetic reconstruction. We address three anatomical layers simultaneously: the tightening of the Rectus Abdominis muscles, the excision of redundant skin (Dermolipectomy), and the refined contouring of the remaining fat layer via Lipo-abdominoplasty. By integrating Vaser® technology, we preserve the blood supply to the skin flap, significantly reducing the risk of tissue necrosis compared to traditional methods.

Rectus Plicature: Repairing Diastasis Recti

A primary goal for post-pregnancy and major weight loss patients is the correction of Diastasis Recti, the separation of the abdominal muscles. During the procedure, our surgeons perform an internal corset repair known as Rectus Plicature. Using permanent, high-tensile sutures, we pull the muscle fascia back to the midline. This not only flattens the stomach profile but also improves core stability and alleviates chronic lower back pain associated with muscle laxity.

Mini vs. Full vs. Extended Abdominoplasty

We customize the surgical approach based on the degree of tissue laxity:

  • Mini-Tummy Tuck: Targets the area below the navel for patients with minor skin sagging and no muscle separation.

  • Full Abdominoplasty: Addresses the entire abdominal wall, including muscle repair and a new umbilicoplasty (belly button repositioning).

  • Extended Abdominoplasty: Extends the incision toward the flanks to address significant skin laxity following massive weight loss, providing a 360-degree improvement in the lower torso.

Scar Management and Incision Placement Biomechanics

We utilize a low-tension, Bikini-Line incision strategy. The incision is placed low enough to be entirely concealed by standard undergarments or swimwear. To ensure optimal healing, we employ a multi-layered closure technique that minimizes tension on the skin surface. This prevents the scar from widening and promotes a thin, flat line that fades significantly over 12 months.

The 10-Day International Patient Safety Window

Due to the structural nature of Abdominoplasty, we mandate a slightly longer stay for international travelers to ensure hemodynamic and wound stability:

Day 1 . Clinical Marking: Assessment of skin elasticity and muscle separation.

Day 2 . Surgery: 3–4 hours under general anesthesia in a JCI-accredited facility.

Day 3-5 . Mobilization: In-patient monitoring and early walking to promote circulation.

Day 10 . Suture & Drain Check: Final clearance before your flight home. We provide a Travel Support plan to manage abdominal tension during air travel.
